DILINET is a project that aims to build indicators of linguistic diversity in the digital world. Its purpose is to provide the digital world with the indicators that are needed to drive public policies required for languages at national and global levels, in order to help with the inclusion of the language factor in the digital economy.
Thus, DILINET will to contribute with reliable data all digital oriented business requiring the evaluation of linguistic investments and its researches in the field of Internet, beyond the linguistic theme, will impact all which is related to the process of the huge data sets and will allow to better understand and measure the Web.
DILINET will be designed from the state of the art of actual methods and from the thorough analysis of their difficulties and with the addition of innovative approaches. It will represent an historic breakthrough for the issue of linguistic diversity in the Internet opening the floor for a professional approach to this emerging theme and, as a side effect, contributing to the change of paradigm of the vision of the digital divide, switching the perspective from access to content.
Indirectly with its innovative methods DILINET will also change radically the manner Information Society Indicators are produced, opening new promising avenues.
DILINET stands on the motivation of a group of committed international organizations to contribute and participate to that difficult but indispensable goal: UNESCO, ITU, OIF and Union Latine and will drive from the professional experience in that very field of Maaya members (such as Union Latine, Funredes or LOP) with the addition of innovative approaches.
